Course of study:
Bachelor of Information Systems

Being an international student from Sri Lanka, I thought the transition to university life was going to be tough, but this wasn’t the case at La Trobe. This is my second year and quite simply, I love it here. In my opinion, the university offers us the best facilities and even better staff. The sports centre has so many activities and the newly renovated library is just amazing!

I have made friends with so many people from different nationalities and studying with them helps me learn a lot more. Everyone here is friendly and there is always someone to help you out or share the same interests as you.

In pursuing my degree I have been successful in mixing sports management subjects with Information Systems and find it a very useful combination. As part of La Trobe’s partnership with Melbourne Heart Football Club, I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer and gained a supervisor role. I someday hope to work in a specialised position combining both fields and I am certain that La Trobe will get me there.

As a student ambassador, I am employed by the university to help new students find their way. These positions are open to all La Trobe students, where you get the opportunity to meet so many people and work with a very efficient team.

Future international students should do a lot of research and understand key factors such as duration of study, entry requirements, fees and accommodation. It is essential you keep in touch with the university and get all relevant information so you are prepared and relaxed.
