Why study information technology?

This course offers studies in all aspects of IT, but particularly focuses on infrastructure technology, planning and management of technology lifecycles, development of applications, systems, web multimedia resources, installation and administration of networks and information security.

You can also combine studies with other disciplines across the university, including business, humanities, mathematics, public health and environmental science.

Scholarships

The Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering offers scholarships up to A$6000 per year to high-achieving students. You may also be eligible for smaller scholarships sponsored by various companies.

All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional) automatically receive a La Trobe or Industry-sponsored scholarship of A$2000 per year for the first two years of study, on top of the A$20,000 industry scholarship or salary as negotiated with your employer.

Information technology placements

This course features observational industry placements in first year and participation alongside IT professionals in second and third years. You can also enrol in project subjects and work in the industry as part of our Industry-Based Learning program.

You will also have the opportunity to gain industry-standard qualifications with CISCO and Microsoft as part of your degree.

In the Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional) you will be awarded with either an Industry-Based Learning scholarship valued at A$20,000 or employment with one of our industry partners.
